Whispers of the Flock

Whispers of the Flock is a portable, floating island installed off the coast of Cheung Chau, conceived as a public space where birds, native plants, and local residents can encounter one another. The floating island is planted with native species alongside integrated seed banks and a freshwater basin. Together, these elements create an ideal mini-habitat for local bird species, offering food, water, and shelter in a single drifting sanctuary. Over time, the “island” becomes a self-regulating microcosm—a fragment of wild nature that drifts along Cheung Chau's shoreline.

Come observe the comings and goings of our little avian visitors, and feel this moment of peace between urban life and the natural world.

For those unable to visit in person, a remote camera feed streams the island's daily rhythms online, allowing birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts to witness real-time interactions between birds, plants, and the art piece.
