Between Tides

Between Tides is a group exhibition showcasing the ceramic work of over twenty past and present students (ages 6–15) and studio members from Lantau Pottery Studio in Mui Wo. The works emerged from a dedicated seven-week programme (September–October 2026) that explored the Festival’s thematic threads:Tidal Beings and Island Mythologies.
The exhibition’s centrepiece is a single, imagined reef, assembled from individual wheel-thrown bowls and cups. Each piece is adorned with hand-sculpted corals, shells, and sea creatures, brought to life with vivid underglaze. Though individually authored, the reef belongs collectively to all its makers—a testament to shared creativity.
As a collective experience, Between Tides celebrates what children already know about the sea around them, and what clay makes possible: a permanent, handcrafted record of attention, fired into form.
