Melody of the Drifting Sea: Lung Mo

“It is not the song that summons the storm — it is the storm that calls forth the song.”

Melody of the Drifting Sea combines the operas and arias of European classical music with the mythologies of Hong Kong's outlying islands. At its heart is the story of a young dragon who inhabits a sacred sea—beautiful, perilous, and filled with temptation—who longs for the Dragon Mother whose presence once enveloped her like the tides.

These original narrative passages come from the imagination of a new Peng Chau kaifong, inspired by the island’s Dragon Mother imagery and lore. Her theatrical storytelling is interwoven with live classical performance and original compositions.
